Our Beliefs

A church is a local body of Scripturally baptized believers who assemble together for the purpose of carrying out the great commission of Matthew 28:20-21. As a Baptist Church we believe in salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ only. No good works, no rituals, no church membership, etc., will suffice. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31). After receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour, the believer should be baptized by immersion by a Scriptural New Testament Church.

The Bible (KJV) is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. It should be studied, memorized, and most of all, practiced. In this way the believer will have an abundant and fruitful Christian life.

Several other important distinctives and beliefs of Haven Baptist Church are listed below:

Salvation

We are not Calvinists nor Arminian. We believe the Bible teaches that men cannot save themselves but they can, under the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, call upon Jesus Christ to save them.

Separation

We belong to no denominational group nor do we associate with the World Council of Churches, the National Council of Churches, the charismatic movement or any other other apostate group. We believe personal separation from worldliness is vital for a truly dedicated Christian walk.

Creation

We are not evolutionists. We believe God created the world in six literal days and rested the seventh, as recorded in the Genesis account.

Eternity

We believe the saved will spend eternity in heaven; a place of everlasting joy, peace, and rest. The lost will spend eternity in hell; a place of everlasting fire, torment and hopelessness.

Our Purpose

Our purpose as a church is to fulfill the great commission that Jesus Christ gave the church just before He returned to heaven: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsover I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-21) In Mark 16:15 the church is commanded to Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Through our various ministries and missions we seek to tell people about the good news of the gospel.
